Chidham & Hambrook Film Society

Chidham - Hambrook - Nutbourne East

Next Film - Friday 10th April - The Choral

Ralph Fiennes plays Dr Guthrie, the new choirmaster to the choral society in a fictional Yorkshire village during WWI. As most of the men have left for war he is left with those too young or old and the women.
He is treated with deep suspicion as he once lived in Germany and is something of an aesthete. Against the backdrop of war raging in France, conscription and sexual awakening, Alan Bennett’s film shows
the community coming together for the society’s annual production. A gentle period drama which is delivered with humour and poignancy.
Doors open 7.30pm - Film Screens at 8.00pm. Tickets £6.

The Film Society shows films once a month from September to May /June. We try to make sure we have a mix of the deservedly popular films, and others less well known, but that we think our audience will enjoy. Last season, for example, we showed the hugely popular ‘Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’ as well as the less well known, but excellent, ‘Scrapper’ and ‘The Eternal Daughter’. Films are shown in the theatre hall upstairs on our very large screen, always on a Friday evening. Before the screening at 8.00pm, there is a bar serving wine, beer and soft drinks from around 7.30pm, where our audiences enjoy the opportunity for a chat before the screening.

Price per film is £6.00 and cards are accepted for entrance and bar. Our films are advertised in the Village Magazine and, of course, on this website. We look forward to seeing you all then – and for more information, phone Jane Towers on 07792 349936 .
